Tipis in a field

Tipi Talk Blog

Autumn’s arrival means Open Weekend time for us!

For us at World Inspired Tents, the best thing about summer coming to an end is that we get to start planning for our Autumn Open Weekend!  Once again taking place at the lovely Darts Farm, we will be joined by an amazing array of wedding and event industry talents (quite a number of whom are also Wedding Industry Award winners).

The tipis will be styled and dressed by Devon Vintage China and The Little Wedding Helper, with flowers from West Dorset Weddimg Flowers, by The Poundbury Florist, tableware supplied by South West Event Hire and the all-important lavatories from Premier Luxury Loos

Our good friend Sarah Lauren will also be joining us to capture the day and showcase her photographic talents.  Plus Dartmoor Kitchen and Tom’s Pies will be there to discuss all manner of event catering deliciousness!  There will also be treats and samples supplied by Luscombe Drinks, Wildflower Favours, Bespoke Confetti, Cloud Nine Marshmallows, Wed Magazine and National Weddings Magazine, so all in all we are going to be in very good company!

Marshmallow toasting has become somewhat of a World Inspired Tents Open Weekend institution, and we will be sure to keep the bowls well filled for anyone who comes to see us!

Taking place on the 25th and 26th October, between 10am and 4pm, everyone is welcome to drop in.  Appointments are also available if you would like some dedicated time with one of our team.  For more information or to book an appointment please email info@world-inspired.co.uk or call us on 01271 851160.

New Corporate Events pages - there's more to us than weddings!

This week we have mostly been putting the finishing touches to some new pages for our website, which are dedicated to corporate and public events.  And we really are quite pleased with the results!

We have designed these pages with our business clients and their event management agencies in mind. These customers come to us looking for an innovative alternative to traditional marquees for their temporary event structures, and our new corporate pages showcase the flexibility of the tipis and the multiple uses they can provide to the corporate market.

For anyone who is keen to hold an event in our tipis, but can’t find a suitable location for them, we have an extensive list of tried and tested venues that are perfect for tipi pitching – have a look at the “Venue” section of the Our Friends pages for details.

Finally, a big thank you to Clevera (our fantastic design and website agency) for their creativity, patience and ongoing support with these pages and all the other jobs that come their way!

Our bumper crop of World Inspired saplings!

World Inspired Tents Tree Campaign news

We are delighted with the progress of the saplings for this year’s Tree Campaign, which are thriving thanks to the perfect combination of showers and sunshine that the Devon spring and summer have so far thrown at them!

This is the fifth season of the campaign, where we give each of our customers an oak sapling to plant - both to mark their occasion and to help absorb CO2.  There are now many hundreds of World Inspired saplings out there, with lots more ready to go this year.

We are hoping that there will be lots more sun and just enough rain this summer to help keep them all healthy and happy, wherever they are!

Sharpham Estate - one of our favourite tipi venues!

We may be a little bit late to the party, but we have recently discovered the stunning Sharpham Estate, and we were so impressed by the beauty of this venue and the outstanding service that their events team provide, that we wanted to share the loveliness!

Dating back to the 1770s, and overlooking the River Dart in South Devon, this stunning Palladian Mansion offers five rooms that are licensed to hold wedding ceremonies, including the Inner Hall with its majestic “floating elliptical” staircase.

As well as stylish accommodation for the bride and groom and up to 28 of their guests, Sharpham also offers experienced wedding coordinator, Rosie Weston (who we can’t recommend highly enough!) and her award winning Vine Event Catering team.

The most important part of any wedding – for the World Inspired Tents team - is where to put the tipis for the reception, and this is where Sharpham really shines for us.  Set amongst beautiful rolling countryside, and with the perfect tipi pitching lawns outside the house, this really is as good as it gets!

For a closer look at this beautiful venue have a look at their wedding video, and for more information on Sharpham weddings please call Rosie on 01803 732 766 or email her at info@vineeventcatering.co.uk

Have a look at Our Friends page for more tipi friendly venue ideas.

MUTA News - choosing a temporary structure made simple

We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Jon Parr for being elected President of MUTA, the trade association for temporary structures including tipis, and marquees in the UK.

10 years ago Jon was the first person to introduce Nordic tipis to the UK, and in many ways we all have Jon to thank for the many thousands of events that have taken place in Tentipi Event tents since then.  It's fantastic to have Jon leading such a valuable organisation as MUTA and we're excited about the changes he will bring.

As MUTA members we have to adhere to their strict Code of Practice.  We are continually assessed on quality and the ability to demonstrate compliance with the Health and Safety Executive’s approved best practice for the marquee industry.

Please have a look at MUTA's all new website. It's full of information and has a useful section on 'Why Use a MUTA Member'.  They also have a great interactive map to help people chose accredited members by structure type and location – an invaluable tool for anyone planning an outdoor event.

Quite simply, membership of MUTA is a privilege that has to be earned.  Most importantly of all it ensures peace of mind for the customer.  So, whomever you choose for your tipi, please ensure they are a MUTA member.
