The Venus Awards – recognition of women in business

Here at World Inspired Tents we are feeling a little bit proud of our rather clever Director, Donna (above right).  Not only does she keep a tight grip on the running of the business (while managing a very busy home) but she has also been shortlisted for the Customer Service Award by the Venus Awards - Devon.

The Venus Awards is a national scheme established to recognise and celebrate women in business and deliver personal and business development.  The Customer Service Award is given in recognition of an “individual or business that goes the extra mile”. There is no doubt that Donna is no stranger to “going the extra mile”, and we are all really happy that both the Venus Awards and the Brend Hotels (sponsors of this particular award) have recognised her for this.

Team World Inspired have picked up a few awards over the years, all of which are recognition from customers and the wedding industry, which makes them pretty special to us.  However, being recognised by women in business from our local community for the excellent customer service that we all strive to deliver is a little bit extra special!

Thank you Venus Awards and Brend Hotels, and good luck to all the finalists out there. The award winners will be announced at an award ceremony on November 27th, and we will be keeping our fingers tightly crossed until then!

Autumn Open Weekend excitement in the air!

September seems to be slipping away at an alarming rate, leaving us heading at speed towards our autumn Open Weekend! This year it’s taking place on 24th & 25th October at the ever-delicious Darts Farm.

We have some really exciting plans underway this year (some of which are a bit on the secret side) but it’s safe to say we are working on a styling theme that packs a punch, with some seriously inspiring suppliers!

This year the styling magic is being expertly managed by Kirsten of The Little Wedding Helper fame, Nat from Meadowsweet Vintage and Jess from West Dorset Wedding Flowers. These lovely ladies are co-ordinating a brilliant team of suppliers including Edible Essence Cake ArtThings by Laura, The Event Flag Hire Company, Chilpa, South West Event Hire, Hip Hip Hooray, Silver Deer Wedding Stationery, The Pom Pom Studio and Virginias Vintage Hire.

Our great friends Sarah Lauren Photography (who will be documenting the weekend) and Dartmoor Kitchen will also be joining us to discuss their award-winning services.

Anyone who books an appointment with one of our event team will receive a goody bag filled with treats from some fantastic suppliers including Cloud 9 Marshmallows, Bespoke Confetti, Oakwood Soaperie, Wildflower Favours, Luscombe Drinks, Wed Magazine, Quince Honey Farm, and more to be confirmed!

We will be open for visitors from 10am to 4pm on both Saturday & Sunday 24th & 25th October.  Directions to Darts Farm can be found here.  Appointments are available for anyone who would like some dedicated time with one of the events team, but anyone is welcome to pop by to see the tipis and meet us.

To book an appointment or for any queries please give us a call on 01271 851160 or email info@world-inspired.co.uk

Native Luxury Bell Tent Hire

Here at World Inspired Tents we would like to introduce our customers to Native – the Bell Tent glamping experts. We’re delighted to have teamed up with these super people to offer their furnished Bell Tent Camps to anyone planning a World Inspired tipi event.

Native’s traditionally designed tents are made from quality cotton canvas and come in three different sizes, comfortably accommodating groups of up to eight people. Have a look at their packages for full details of the tent sizes and furnishing options – they really have thought of everything!

For brides and grooms, Native’s six metre bridal tent is dressed elegantly, setting it slightly apart from the rest of the camp, to help make the happy couple feel pampered and special.  With the very best king size air bed, mirror, dressing table, seating, sheepskin rugs, bunting and fairy lights; it’s a dreamy little hideaway once the festivities are over!

For more information of the wonderful world of Native glamping, please get in touch with them on mail@nativeoutdoors.co.uk or 07810 698 929 or have a peek at their website http://nativeoutdoors.co.uk.

The National Sculpture Prize & The Broomhill Art & Sculpture Foundation

This year we are delighted to be supporting one of our favourite local venues – The Broomhill Art Hotel - by joining some super companies in sponsoring their National Sculpture Prize.

The prize, which was launched in 2009, provides 10 new and emerging sculptors (chosen by a panel of judges) with £1000 to create a sculpture designed to be placed outdoors. Two winners are chosen from the original group of ten, one voted for by a panel of judges and another voted for by the public.  The finalists’ work, including biographies, blogs and artist statements can be seen on the Broomill website. The winners will be announced in October.

The final ten sculptures are now on display at Broomhill Art Hotel, and visitors have the opportunity to cast their votes at the exhibition or online.  We highly recommend a visit, and don’t miss the chance to pop into their outstanding restaurant while you are there!

Magical days in the Cotswolds for Team World Inspired!

What a super duper few days we had in the beautiful Cotswolds last week.  Although it was go, go, go, it was also a little bit like being on holiday with all that sunshine and picture postcard countryside!

The excitement started last Friday, when an incredible team of talented wedding suppliers descended on the tipis which were pitched at the idyllic Burford Garden Company.  The team was expertly organised by the awesome Kate Cullen (wedding stylist extraordinaire) to create a styled shoot for the Mr and Mrs Unique Magazine and blog.

Kate had pulled together beautiful hire items for styling the tipis.  Stunning tableware, including coloured glasses and glass chargers, was generously supplied by Whitehouse Event Crockery (have a peek at their Lookbook for a flavour), and Gilded Linens supplied gorgeous sequinned runners and geometric napkin holders.

We also had some very kind suppliers who created bespoke items for the shoot. A stunning garland came from Things by Laura.  Some of the most imaginative wedding stationery ever constructed (quite literally!) was supplied by Dottypink Designs.  And a selection of super stylish cakes came from the lovely Made by Marie Green Cakes.  The styling was topped off by incredible creations courtesy of Acacia Floristry.

Our model for the day (Zoe Alicia Huckerby) had a shoot make over by a brilliant beauty team which consisted of Heidi Vince Hair, Bella Bridal Hair by Sandie and Metamorphosis Beauty, who created two very different but equally beautiful looks.  Our model was dressed in stunning vintage dresses supplied by Days of Grace,  shoes from Charlotte Mills Bridal  and jewellery from super cool Wolf & Moon.

Superb event caterers Parsnip Mash (who are based in Bristol) supplied beautifully prepared and styled food for the shoot (and a good quantity of tasty treats for everyone involved in the shoot too – we are still dreaming about the brownies & macaroons…).

Once the styling and dressing was complete the brilliant Paola de Paola (Photography) was able to start capturing the amazing details, and she worked flat out all day making sure that nothing was missed.

Towards the end of the day the World Inspired team, along with Kate Cullen and Acacia Floristry, switched attention to the fast approaching Open Weekend, and added and dressed all the remaining tables before the tipis were opened up to the public, the following morning.

Along with the Open Weekend visitors we were also joined on Saturday by one of our favourite photographers, James Darling, who very kindly came all the way up from Cornwall to document the weekend, capture any styling details that weren’t to be included in the Mr & Mrs Unique feature, and talk to our lovely customers about all manner of wedding photography matters!  Simon from Parsnip Mash also stayed with us to discuss catering options with potential customers.

We really are so very grateful to have worked with such wonderful talents, for all the pieces that were specially created for the shoot, from Kate Cullen for working so hard putting the brilliant team and (still secret!) styling concept together, to Mr & Mrs Unique for their support, Paola de Paola and James Darling for sharing their talents with us.  Finally we would like to extent a massive thanks to Burford Garden Company for all their hospitality!

All the above images are courtesy of James Darling Photography.

Paola de Paola’s images will be available once Mr & Mrs Unique’s feature has been published.  Watch this space….!
