Our bumper crop of World Inspired saplings!

World Inspired Tents Tree Campaign news

We are delighted with the progress of the saplings for this year’s Tree Campaign, which are thriving thanks to the perfect combination of showers and sunshine that the Devon spring and summer have so far thrown at them!

This is the fifth season of the campaign, where we give each of our customers an oak sapling to plant - both to mark their occasion and to help absorb CO2.  There are now many hundreds of World Inspired saplings out there, with lots more ready to go this year.

We are hoping that there will be lots more sun and just enough rain this summer to help keep them all healthy and happy, wherever they are!

Sharpham Estate - one of our favourite tipi venues!

We may be a little bit late to the party, but we have recently discovered the stunning Sharpham Estate, and we were so impressed by the beauty of this venue and the outstanding service that their events team provide, that we wanted to share the loveliness!

Dating back to the 1770s, and overlooking the River Dart in South Devon, this stunning Palladian Mansion offers five rooms that are licensed to hold wedding ceremonies, including the Inner Hall with its majestic “floating elliptical” staircase.

As well as stylish accommodation for the bride and groom and up to 28 of their guests, Sharpham also offers experienced wedding coordinator, Rosie Weston (who we can’t recommend highly enough!) and her award winning Vine Event Catering team.

The most important part of any wedding – for the World Inspired Tents team - is where to put the tipis for the reception, and this is where Sharpham really shines for us.  Set amongst beautiful rolling countryside, and with the perfect tipi pitching lawns outside the house, this really is as good as it gets!

For a closer look at this beautiful venue have a look at their wedding video, and for more information on Sharpham weddings please call Rosie on 01803 732 766 or email her at info@vineeventcatering.co.uk

Have a look at Our Friends page for more tipi friendly venue ideas.

MUTA News - choosing a temporary structure made simple

We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Jon Parr for being elected President of MUTA, the trade association for temporary structures including tipis, and marquees in the UK.

10 years ago Jon was the first person to introduce Nordic tipis to the UK, and in many ways we all have Jon to thank for the many thousands of events that have taken place in Tentipi Event tents since then.  It's fantastic to have Jon leading such a valuable organisation as MUTA and we're excited about the changes he will bring.

As MUTA members we have to adhere to their strict Code of Practice.  We are continually assessed on quality and the ability to demonstrate compliance with the Health and Safety Executive’s approved best practice for the marquee industry.

Please have a look at MUTA's all new website. It's full of information and has a useful section on 'Why Use a MUTA Member'.  They also have a great interactive map to help people chose accredited members by structure type and location – an invaluable tool for anyone planning an outdoor event.

Quite simply, membership of MUTA is a privilege that has to be earned.  Most importantly of all it ensures peace of mind for the customer.  So, whomever you choose for your tipi, please ensure they are a MUTA member.

Festival wedding styling - a new Pinterest board to inspire

The lovely and super talented Sarah Lauren has once again provided us with a beautiful selection of images from our last Open Weekend at Darts Farm.

Have a look at our latest Pinterest board showing some gorgeous tipi styling and supplier inspiration - happy pinning!

New friends, useful links and a glass of bubbly!

Last week some of the World Inspired Tents team were lucky enough to take a trip to Bristol to attend a Little Wedding Tweet Up, organised by the lovely and talented Kirsten of The Little Wedding Helper fame.

It was the first of these events that we have been able to get to, and it was well worth the trip.  Held at Goldbrick House (a stunning Champagne bar, restaurant and wedding venue in the heart of Bristol), not only did we get to sample delicious canapés and bubbles, we also had the opportunity to talk shop and exchange notes with some super wedding industry talents. If you are planning a wedding and looking for ideas and inspiration it’s well worth having a look at what these guys are up to - The Wedding Secret, Pieminister, Polished Studio, Tricia Designs, Bristol Bridal Boutique and Ido Wedding Films.

We were lucky to get chatting with John from The Wedding Secret, who provide a fantastic online resource for anyone planning a wedding in Bath, Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire or the Cotswolds.  They have a comprehensive list of local suppliers, a free wedding planning tool and an online magazine filled with articles, advice and pictures – take a peek!

(Many thanks to Matt Willis Photography for the images)

Our Tents at Friends' Events

It's that time of year where we start to roll the tipis out for a series of public events, taking place throughout the spring and summer.

To get things started, our good friends at Darts Farm are taking the tipis to two Spring events to create their "Food is Fun Teepees", firstly to Exeter Food Festival (April 25th-27th at Exeter Castle), then on to the Devon County Show (22nd-24th May at Westpoint, Exeter).  The tipis will see a huge selection of activities  - from making and baking workshops, to celebrity chef demonstrations, and all manner of yummy morsels to taste!

Moving into summer, we are supplying a tipi for the gorgeous Contemporary Craft Festival (6th-8th June at Bovey Tracey, Devon).  The festival will host an array of exhibitors and workshops, and the "Talk Tipi" will be in situ providing three days of free talks on a wide range of craft topics.

The end of summer brings The Tribal Clash (29th-31st August), where 700 athletes meet on Blackpool Sands, South Devon, to compete in this elite team fitness event.  Take a peek at this video for an idea of what's involved - WOWZERS!

Our sunny Spring Open Weekend

Here we are, back in the office, fresh from the excitement of our gorgeous festival wedding themed Open Weekend, at Darts Farm. Our events team had a busy weekend catching up with existing customers and meeting new ones, to discuss the finer points of their weddings and events.

We were fortunate to have the theme beautifully interpreted by Devon Vintage China (with a stunning selection of sweet shop bright china, sequins and embroidered table cloths), and Jolly Good Wedding (who provided welly boot centre pieces, pom-poms and streamers).  All of the styling was complemented with armfuls of gorgeous blooms supplied by the award winning Poundbury Florist.

A selection of tableware and chairs were kindly supplied by South West Event Hire, table names were designed and supplied by Knots & Kisses Wedding Stationery and the main entrance to the tipis was adorned with luscious garlands kindly provided by Tregothnan.  Premier Luxury Loos were kind enough to supply some of their finest facilities, for which the whole team were hugely grateful!

The lovely Sarah Lauren was in residence, talking wedding photography and snapping the tipis (images to follow!).  Our great friends from Dartmoor Kitchen and Tom's Pies were on hand to discuss their outstanding event catering, and a stunning array of cakes was provided by Juicy Lucy Cupcakes.  Of course, no World Inspired Tents open weekend is complete without the toasting of some marshmallows, this time they were supplied by the amazing Cloud Nine Marshmallows - the salted caramel flavour being the team favourite, just yummy!

A huge thank you to our customers who took the time to come and visit the tipis, to all our super suppliers, and to Darts Farm for being amazing hosts as always.

For the World Inspired Tents team, the end of the Spring Open Weekend signifies the start of the busy summer season - and we are all ready to get cracking.  Dates for the Autumn Open Weekend are currently being finalised - details to be found here very soon!

A new season and a new home for World Inspired Tents

It is with much excitement that we can now announce that we have left our old HQ, to move to a brand new premises with more space for our team and the tipis!

Over the last few years our business has continued to expand to the point where we had outgrown our home.  Although the office staff had got used to a little bit of hot-desking, it wasn’t so easy to accommodate our growing stock of tipis and accessories.

Our dream team of trade professionals have been working flat out to create an amazing new workspace, complete with staff areas, a meeting room and more storage, but most importantly a lovely space in which we can continue to grow!

Our new home is at a beautiful farm called Coxleigh Barton, just a stones throw from Barnstaple.  Even though we have not moved far, our new base gives us greater access to better road links which will make our logistics planning easier.

Lisa, our super Operations Manager, pulled out all the stops to manage the move and her hardworking crews have been busy moving all of our stock to its new home.  Our events team have beavered away, to ensure that there was no disruption in service and we are now proud to be up-and-running in our new HQ.

The whole team are looking forward to getting settled in for the 2014 season, and being able to deliver lots more tipi events to our lovely customers.

The World Inspired Tents 'festival' themed Open Weekend

The World Inspired Tents team are wondering where the weeks and months have gone….  It doesn’t feel like any time since our Open Weekend back in October, and here we are again putting plans in place for this year’s Spring Open Weekend.  Once again we will be setting up at the lovely Darts Farm on 22nd and 23rd March, and we are more than a little bit excited about the ‘Festival’ theme that we will be showcasing this time – think bright colours, streamers and lanterns, or have a look at out Pinterest board for some ideas!

We are lucky to have some really amazing (and award winning!) suppliers in attendance. Devon Vintage China and Jolly Good Wedding will be in charge of tipi (festival) styling, supported by The Poundbury Florist who will be supplying gorgeous blooms and South West Event Hire whose tableware we will be using.  Sarah Lauren will be showcasing her beautiful photography, a selection of delicious cakes will be on show courtesy of Juicy Lucy Cupcakes and the multi-award winning Dartmoor Kitchen and Tom’s Pies will be joining us to talk about their amazing feasts and tasty treats.  Our events team are also relieved that Premier Luxury Loos will be supplying the finest of facilities for the weekend!

We will be open for visitors from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd March, and everyone is welcome to pop in to say hi and toast a marshmallow or two!  Anyone who has a few questions and wants to be sure that a member of staff will be available to talk with them can book an appointment.  Call us on 01271 865306 or email info@world-inspired.co.uk.

We are also putting together goody bags for anyone who books an appointment with us including samples and treats from many lovely suppliers including Bespoke Confetti, Juicy Lucy Cupcakes, Cloud Nine Marshmallows, Luscombe Drinks, Wed Magazine, and National Weddings Magazine.

Another win - the country's best wedding marquee provider 2014!

The World Inspired Tents team started yesterday with slightly fuzzy heads after a night spent celebrating another Wedding Industry Award for Best Wedding Marquee Provider.  Yay!  A heart felt THANK YOU to all our lovely customers who took the time to vote for us (we have just read through your comments and have to confess to being a little choked up).

A sparkly evening was spent at the Bloomsbury Ballroom, amongst some of the wedding industry’s greatest talents.  We were all delighted to be there, having scooped the regional award for the South West, which took us through to the finals.  Although we were hopeful, we were up against some tough competition so spent a good part of the evening on the edges of our seats….

After a couple of hours nail-biting (tempered with some rather lovely bubbles and great company) another season’s hard work and dedication from the whole team was acknowledged.  Once again we have the honour of bringing the trophy for the Best Wedding Marquee Provider back to Devon (to join our other awards!) .  And we couldn’t be happier.

We were joined by some wonderful friends who helped us celebrate, so thanks for the support from Ocean Kave who were quite rightly shortlisted in the Best Newcomer category, and Nicky from Guides for Brides (who sponsor the Best Website award).  Congratulations to all our fellow South West regional finalists, especially Jess at The Poundbury Florist who received the highly commended award in her category.  Thanks also to the lovely Kirsten (The Little Wedding Helper), and the chaps from the Look Look Photo Booth (see above)!  Congratulations also to All About Me Marquees & Events, who were regional finalists in our category – after just a year in business – good work team and lovely to meet you all!

Our biggest thanks go to Damien & Anna Bailey and their team, who not only put on a cracking event, but also work tirelessly to ensure that the wedding industry has a credible and independent awards process. The win is hugely important to us, firstly as it provides real reassurance for brides and grooms when choosing their wedding suppliers, and also as a seal of approval for our beautiful Giant Hat tipis as a reliable, original and visually stunning alternative to traditional marquee hire.

Now to the season ahead, and making sure that all our new customers have amazing events in our World Inspired Tents x

Styling inspiration for your tipi wedding

Once our customers have chosen to hire tipis for their big day, they then get to decide how to decorate and style them.  Everyone wants to add their own personal touch to the look and feel of the tipis, but with so many options it can be daunting to know where to start!

For those of you who are looking for ideas, we have been busy gathering up images from our 2013 tipi weddings and events.  We have updated our Pinterest boards and Gallery with some examples of different styling ideas.  Whether you are excited by the idea of casual festival tipi styling, would like to dress the tipis with eclectic, vintage touches or are inclined towards a more formal and traditional feel for your tipi wedding, we have a board to whet your whistle.

We always love to see new images of World Inspired tipi weddings and events, so if you do have any to share please get in touch!

The Open Weekend in pictures

Our friend, Sarah Lauren, has kindly sent of lots of gorgeous images from our last Open Weekend at Darts Farm.  We have created a Pinterest board to show all the tipi loveliness and examples of all our supplier's winter themed tipi styling

We are just putting plans in place for the next Open Weekend which will be taking place on 22nd and 23rd March, again at the fabulous Darts Farm, with a colourful Festival Wedding theme for the tipi styling.  Next year, for the first time, we will also be holding a second Spring Open Weekend, details will follow shortly!

The wait is over!

Following today’s announcement, the team have indulged in few bubbles for lunch!   We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the Best Wedding Marquee Supplier in the South West, in this year’s Wedding Industry Awards.  This is the third consecutive year that we have scooped the regional award, and we are over the moon.

We have received a huge number of votes from our lovely customers, so are hugely grateful to them all for taking the time to pledge their support for us. We are also enormously proud of our dedicated team, all of whom have worked tirelessly throughout the whole season to consistently exceed expectations.

Now we have to move back from the edge of our seats and wait until January to see how we fair against the other regional winners.  Fingers crossed for the nationals, and congratulations to all the other finalists!

The rise and rise of Cloud Nine Marshmallows

So, back at the start of 2013 the lovely Murphy Williams of Cloud Nine Marshmallows popped us an email – would we be interested in sampling some marshmallows? Ummm, yes please!

Back then Murphy was toiling from her kitchen, developing her branding and getting the business up and running.  So blown away were we by the truly amazing flavours (and after a second box of samples for the tearful crew who didn’t get a chance to taste the first) that we were more than happy to recommend the product to our customers, and support a small local start-up business.

Little did we know that the ‘small’ business was set for stratospheric success.  The next time we spoke with Murphy (to organise samples for our Open Weekend), she was working on an order for Selfridges, and casually mentioned some press coverage that she had received (only Vouge, The Telegraph, The Times, and The Daily Mail!).

Cloud Nine Marshmallows are now winning awards, moving in to purpose built premises, and satisfying the most discerning of pallets (Sophie Dahl and Kirstie Allsopp can be counted among their fans!).  They have even secured a partnership with Veuve Cliquot, supporting the launch of a new rose champagne - chin chin to that!

We are absolutely thrilled to have witnessed Cloud Nine’s incredible success in such a short time frame, and can’t recommend the product highly enough.  We suggest toasting them over an open fire in a World Inspired tipi!  Our favourite is the double raspberry, which would you go for?

Many thanks from the World Inspired team!

The World Inspired Tents team are back in the office, buzzing from a super successful Open Weekend at Darts Farm - a little tired, but raring to go!  We were truly sorry to leave the tipis behind, having spent a busy weekend under the finest canvas in all the land!

After all the effort that went in to making the weekend happen, it was fantastic to see the tipis full of people over both days.  Some visitors are now old friends who popped in to finalise details, some we already know but enjoyed meeting in person for the first time, and others had travelled from far and wide (in some challenging weather conditions), to see the tipis ‘in the flesh’.  The events team is now getting stuck into providing quotes, finalising bookings and doing everything they can to make sure we deliver amazing events for all our lovely customers.

As ever, it was also a fantastic opportunity for the whole events team, tipi crew and suppliers to get together, share experiences from the past season, and ideas for upcoming events.  Heartfelt thanks to Darts Farm, Sarah Lauren Photography, Devon Vintage China, Poppys of Exeter, Dartmoor Kitchen, Tom's Pies, Juicy Lucy Cupcakes, Jolly Good Wedding, South West Event Hire, Could Nine Marshmallows, 2 Green Monkeys, Bespoke Confetti, WED Magazine, National Weddings, and Premier Luxury Loos.

Finally, we must say a huge thank you to our crew, who did the most amazing job, in really rather dreadful weather conditions, to get the tipis safely down and packed away ahead of last night's storm.  What a team!

The Autumn Open Weekend is nearly upon us!

It’s less than two weeks to go until our sparkly, winter themed Open Weekend at the lovely Darts Farm, near Topsham, Exeter (26th & 27th October).  We have so many super suppliers on board this year, all at the top of their game, and all offering samples and examples of their lovely wares.

Lots of our old friends will be in attendance.  Juicy Lucy Cupcakes will showcase tasty treats and Dartmoor Kitchen will be offering samples of their delicious and multiple award-winning catering.  This year’s winter theme will be interpreted by decorating and styling from Jolly Good Wedding using locally sourced winter treats, and Devon Vintage China who will be bringing a selection of their lovely china and accessories.

Sarah Lauren will be with us, with examples of her beautiful photography and taking snaps of the weekend.  South West Event Hire are supplying us with tableware, seating and other bits and bobs.  Also, if you want to see the classiest lavatories available, Premier Luxury Loos will have some of their finest kit on site!

We are also delighted to have some new suppliers on board this year.  Poppys of Exeter will be providing winter themed floral arrangements.  Handmade wedding favours will be showcased by the oh so clever 2 Green Monkeys and some sparkly signage will be on display courtesy of Pocketful of Dreams.

As well as the customary marshmallows for toasting, there will also be goody bags packed full of offers, treats and freebies (Luscombe Drinks, Wed Magazine, National Weddings Magazine, Cloud Nine Marshmallows, Juicy Lucy Meringues and Bespoke Confetti) for anyone who makes an appointment or confirms a booking over the weekend!

Huge congratulations to the Darts Farm team for another successful Food is Fun Teepees at the 10th Anniversary Exeter Food Festival!

This is the fifth year we have partnered with Darts Farm, and the tipis are now well established as an iconic feature of the festival.

Once again the tipis were packed full of tasty treats, demonstrations and activities throughout the sunny weekend.  From a wine master class with Saturday Kitchen’s Susy Atkins, to using food from the farm to make prints with local artist Sarah Bell; there was truly something for everyone. The World Inspired team agrees that the festival was the best yet, and we can’t wait to be back there again next year!

For those who didn’t make it to the festival, there is another chance to sample the delights of the Food is Fun Teepees, at next week’s Devon County Show at Westpoint, Exeter. The lineup includes appearances from celebrity chefs, including the two Michelin star chef Michael Caines, as well as another packed timetable of workshops and demonstrations.

Another Win for the World Inspired Team

We are thrilled to have won Best Marquee Hire Provider at the 2013 Westcountry Wedding Awards.

The awards are the longest running wedding industry awards in the UK and are voted for by customers to recognise excellence amongst wedding suppliers and venues, who are measured on service, product quality and professional standards.

Ed, our MD said “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award. Customer feedback means everything to us and it is also incredibly valuable to our potential customers. 2012 was a challenging season for our crews - being the wettest on record - and it’s fantastic to be know that our customers had a great time, thanks to our tipis being so cosy and our crews being so professional. It makes all the hard work worthwhile, and gives us a fantastic boost for the season ahead!

This latest accolade confirms the growing popularity of Nordic tipis for events since their introduction into the UK eight years ago. Giant Hat tipis are now firmly established in the temporary structure market, and quite rightly so.

A huge thanks to our lovely customers who voted for us, from all of us at World Inspired!
