Tipis in a field

Winter tipi weddings and the brilliant Gorgeous Films!

Despite the Nordic heritage and all round super hardiness of our Giant tipis, it would seem that lots of folk out there in wedding and event land that still think of tipis as a summer option.  To help demonstrate just how fantastic the tipis are for winter events, we would like to share a rather beautiful winter wedding film (over on our Film Gallery page), which was captured by the amazing Gorgeous Films and stars the very lovely (and generous) Kira and AJ in the leading roles as Bride and Groom!

With open fires, space heaters and oodles of candles and fairy lights, the tipis provide a cosy, warm and truly magical and space for a winter wedding or Christmas party.  We can recommend some stunning venues which are perfect for pitching tipis in the winter, and can even offer an out of season discount for bookings between October and April.

And on to the FABULOUS filmmakers…. With 10 years experience of creating wedding and event films, and having solid backgrounds in the TV industry, the Gorgeous Films team have now filmed over 800 events.  Their work is first-class and is endorsed by some of the country’s most beautiful venues including Blenheim Palace, The Savoy, Highclere Castle and Babington House.  The team pride themselves in their unobtrusive approach and commitment to never stage anything, allowing them to produce natural footage and sensitively capture special moments – which they have certainly done in this case!

A huge thanks to all at Gorgeous Films, and to Kira & AJ for their generosity.

Giant tipi events by World Inspired Tents

This winter our trusty crews have pulled out all the stops and built not one but two enormous configurations for large tipi events; an epic 70th birthday bash and a formal military ball.

Both set-ups used seven of our giant Nordic tipis connected to create one large event space, with the addition of catering tents, flooring, lighting and furnishings.  Both events called for reception areas, bars, dance floors and dining space for 250+ guests.  The crews had their work cut out (and limited daylight hours) to get the structures assembled and furnished, but they nailed it!

The images above are courtesy of James Darling Photography.  James has a photojournalistic background and unobtrusive reportage style that was perfect for capturing the atmosphere, space and fun of the evening – not to mention the magnificent blooms!  The super-talented Phillip Taylor Corps created these stunning displays.  With his art-school training and portfolio that includes numerous film and TV commissions, he was the perfect florist for a job of this scale!

Although we love the challenge of a large set up, we are also more than happy to create cosy, intimate spaces for smaller celebrations (see our Floor Plans for some of the options).  Whatever the size of your event, our team are always happy to have an informal chat or provide a detailed quotation.  Call on 01271 851160 or email info@world-inspired.co.uk.

A very special thanks to James Darling for generously sharing these beautiful images.

A busy Spring for the World Inspired Tents team

It’s official - next year we are going to be holding not one, but two, Spring Open Weekends!

The first event will be taking place on 21st and 22nd March at the lovely Darts Farm - our regular Open Weekend haunt.  We will then be heading on to Burford Garden Company in the heart of the Cotswolds for the weekend of 18th and 19th April.

Burford is easily accessible from Oxford, Cheltenham and Bristol, and has the added attraction of offering some rather beautiful garden and home shopping opportunities.  We are working with an awesome selection of suppliers for this event, who are planning some tipi styling magic for our visitors to enjoy.  Kate Cullen (of Lavender Linen fame) is at the helm, with some seriously inspiring plans afoot, and tasty treats will be on offer from the delicious Parsnip Mash. We are also delighted to have Dotty Pink Designs, Acacia Floristry and Paola De Paola Photography on board - full details of our EXCITING plans to follow in due course!

The Darts Farm event will be no less lovely, with old friends Devon Vintage China, Sarah Lauren Photography and Dartmoor Kitchen in attendance as usual, plus lots more to be confirmed....

For more information or to book an appointment at either event, please call us on 01271 851160 or email info@world-inspired.co.uk.

The Wedding Industry Awards - here we go!

Although it’s the start of the process, we are thrilled to have made it over the first hurdle and through to the regional shortlist for the 2015 Wedding Industry Awards! These awards are the UKs only truly independent scheme, and are judged by wedding industry experts on the grounds of direct feedback and votes received from customers.

We are hugely grateful to all our lovely customers who took the time to vote for us, it means an awful lot to the whole team who work tirelessly to deliver magical World Inspired weddings.  After scooping the National Winner award in the Best Wedding Marquee Provider category in 2012 and 2014, and the Regional Winner award in 2013, we are keeping everything crossed that this success continues.

The next step in the process is the regional award event, taking place at The Kingscote Barn on 24th November.  We are looking forward to getting our glad rags on and catching up with some of the many brilliant suppliers who also made it through to the regional finals.  Good luck everyone!

Our Open Weekend tipi dream team!

One of the nicest things about our Open Weekend is observing first-time tipi visitors and the enthusiastic responses that the tipis are met with.  Seeing people’s eyes widen, smiles spread and hearing the “oohs” and “aahs” as they walk into the tipis is absolutely priceless!  Last weekend’s event didn’t disappoint, and the gist from first-time visitors is that the tipis are “so much bigger” than they expected, “they are so atmospheric” – no doubting that – and “wow, they are so beautiful with all the fairy lights” - yep, in our opinion no tipi event is complete without LOADS of fairy lights!

This Autumn the tipi styling was expertly managed by Jan from Devon Vintage China and Kirsten, The Little Wedding Helper, with different takes on the Autumnal theme.  With eight tables and 96 settings between them they worked extremely hard to transform the tipis from blank canvas to a super sumptuous and sparkly wedding and event space! South West Event Hire’s china, cutlery and linen was an essential part of some of the tables and the styling was complemented by handmade wedding stationery from Tree of Hearts with their tipi inspired place settings and Silver Deer Stationery whose two takes on the Autumn theme adorned The Little Wedding Helper’s tables.  Oodles of gorgeous blooms in deep rich tones were supplied and skilfully styled by lovely Jessie from West Dorset Wedding Flowers, by The Poundbury Florist and in the tipi entrance she also added a beautiful garland kindly supplied by Tregothnan

Also in the tipis over the weekend were Dartmoor Kitchen and Tom’s Pies who were on hand to discuss their award-winning catering with our guests. The wonderful Sarah Lauren (Photography) joined us for both days taking lots of pictures and talking photography – watch this space for some examples of the magic she creates when her lenses meet our tipis!  We were fortunate to have some very generous donations to our goody bags, with yummy favours from Cloud Nine Marshmallows, super beautiful Wed Magazines, floral samples from Bespoke Confetti and Wildflower Favours, and fabulous Tree of Hearts discount offers.

Amongst the many super suppliers that made our Open Weekend so brilliant, there was a bit of a “Wedding Industry Award Winners Team” in the tipis!  Aside from us (who are proud to boast one regional win and two national wins in three years), Jessie from West Dorset Wedding Flowers was the winner of the 2014 Highly Commended in the Florist category.  The Little Wedding Helper won the Best Special Touch Award in 2013 and is now on the TWIA judging panel, and Wildflower Favours are former regional winners in the Special Touch category.  Here’s hoping that we all make it as far as a TWIA get together soon – fingers crossed!

A heartfelt thanks to all these lovely, talented and hardworking people for making the Open Weekend so special, to everyone who visited the tipis and filled them with smiles, and once again to fabulous Darts Farm for being such super hosts – see you in the Spring!
