Tent Selection Guide

Before deciding which model of single pole Tentipi is right for you, there are three main questions to consider.  Understanding these will make your decision much easier.

1. Which type of fabric should I choose?
2. Which size will be best for me?
3. Do I need a floor or an inner-tent?

 

Tentipi Kåta Fabrics

Today’s tent manufacturers and users are faced a bewildering choice of fabrics.  Tentipi have simplified this choice by only selecting the very best fabrics for their kåta tents.  However, even at the top end of the market there is a trade-off between fabrics relating to critical factors of functionality.

When selecting your Tentipi consider what climate you will mostly be using your tent in.  Then consider how much weight is a factor in your decision making process.

This list below illustrates the outer tent fabrics used by Tentipi for each of their single pole models.

Tentipi Floors and Inner-Tents.

A question often asked before purchasing a Tentipi kåta is, “do I need an inner-tent or floor?”.  The answer is, no it’s not essential, but there can be a number of advantages in adding these items to your equipment list.

What are they?

• Tentipi floors are completely waterproof and add a high degree of comfort, especially when camping on wet ground.
• A Tentipi inner-tent provides high protection against insects entering the kåta.  The floor is built in to the inner tent which significantly reduces condensation when used with the less breathable kåtas such as the Varrie Lightweight and Nibba.
• Increased insulation in cold environments.

 

Important points to remember.

• If you have an inner tent you do not need a separate floor. A floor is sewn in to the inner tent.
• It is still possible to have a fire or stove in the kata even with a floor or inner-tent.  The floors have zips allowing removal of sections to accommodate a fire.
• Each of the floors or inner-tents will fit any of the Tentipi single pole models of the same size.
• There are two choices of floor or inner tent - “Pro” or “Comfort”.  Both are made of the same construction, the difference being that the Pro models are made with very highest grade of fabric.
