Our tipi wedding competition winners!

06/02/2018

It’s been a little while since we have shared any news about our lucky tipi wedding competition winners. For those of you who aren’t up to speed on this World Inspired story, we celebrated our tenth birthday last year, along with the beautiful Wed Magazine. To commemorate our landmark birthdays we got together to offer one lucky couple a tipi wedding – on us!

We were absolutely swamped with competition entries; it was the biggest response Wed Magazine has ever received to a competition. We shortlisted 20 entries and asked them a few questions to help us decide who should scoop the prize.

Who were the lucky winners? Amy and Tom (and their pooch Pippin).

Amy and Tom’s response was the first we received, and caught our eyes immediately; here is a snippet of their response –

The proposal:
“We were on a walking holiday in the Lake District April this year and Tom proposed after we had climbed the Scafell Pike (the highest peak). He originally was going to propose on the peak itself before he realised how windy, wet and bleak it was! We stopped by a lake by the base of it and Tom got me to hide from him and our dog Pippin (we play a game where we hide and Pippin has to find us), he then dressed Pippin in a tuxedo (see below) and proposed when he found me. Pippin was meant to carry the ring but got quite excited by the lake! We are both 27, vets and I am obsessed with dogs so there is no way he’d have gotten away with proposing without including Pippin.”

Vision for their tipi wedding:
“If we were to win we would love to do a casual festival/ Bilbo’s 111th birthday themed wedding as we love Lord of the Rings. I’d love to have lots of lanterns, fairy lights and caskets of ale/cider just like in the film. We have been to Glastonbury the last couple of years and would love to have Glastonbury vibes to our wedding. We will be getting married in Devon and would like it to be very relaxed, with fewer than 100 people there, we just want to see smiles on everyone’s faces and of course have Pippin as ring bearer! We are going to go travelling for a few months at the end of this year, working at an RSPCA in the Australian outback and at charity clinics across Indonesia so we are looking at getting married in 2019 so we can save up for it.”

That combination of Pippin in a tux, Bilbo’s 111th birthday party and charity based travels swung it for us, and the team at World Inspired HQ unanimously voted for Amy, Tom and Pippin to win the star prize!

The latest news on the winning team is that they have just started their travels. They are now in New Zealand (with Pippin waiting patiently in the UK with Amy’s Mum). Do not worry; the wedding plans are still underway, with Amy organising all sorts of things from down under.

The first development is that they have booked a venue for their tipi wedding (which will be taking place in August 2019) – The Old Rectory in Pyworthy – pretty special hey?

Also, a dress has been chosen… Obviously it will kept under wraps until the big day, but we can confirm that Amy was extremely well looked after by the team at YAP Bridal in Newcastle – we can’t wait for the big reveal.

Lastly (for this installment), Amy and Tom have booked their photographer, Vince at Yeti Photography & Film, having chatted to him via Skype from Australia and deciding that he was the man for the job. We’ve not worked with Vince before but have been soaking up his Instagram account and LOVE the wild and natural feel of his work. Looking forward to seeing his images of a tipi wedding!

The World Inspired team are thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to follow one of our couples so closely through their planning journey, and we are very much looking forward to seeing how their plans unfold over the next 18 months – THANK YOU AMY AND TOM x
